Imphal, April 28 2023:
The High Court of Manipur on Wednesday asked both the petitioner and the respondent to submit the witness report of the election petition filed against Kshetrigao Constituency MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan by May 10 .
It may be mentioned that BJP candidate Nahakpam Indrajit, who came second in the Kshetrigao seat election, had filed the petition to declare the election of Noorul Hassan to 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly as null and void.
The petitioner claimed that the affidavit submitted by Sheikh Noorul Hassan in connection with the Assembly election didn't mention clearly about his movable and immovable assets.
The election petition filed by N Indrajit was case no 6 of 2022 .
The directive to submit the witness report of both the petitioner and the respondent on or before May 10 was given by Acting Chief Justice MV Muralidaran on April 26 .
Reportedly, the petitioner N Indrajit had already submitted his list of witnesses and documents before the High Court on April 17 while respondent Noorul Hassan submitted his list of witnesses on April 25 .
The Acting Chief Justice, after a thorough deliberation, appointed Advocate Yengkhom Dhaljit as Advocate Commissioner of the case.
It is reported that the Advocate Commissioner has been directed to examine the list of witnesses submitted by the respondent and the petitioner on May 8 and take record of the witnesses on May 9 for submission of the report by May 10 .
