JD (U) states stand

Imphal, April 28 2023: JD (U) State unit president Kshetrimayum Biren has stated that they have started consulting with the senior advocates of the Supreme Court to initiate disqualification proceedings against the five MLAs who won elections to the 12th Assembly election on the party ticket and joined the ruling BJP later on.

He also said that the JD (U) will work along with Congress and other Opposition parties in the upcoming Parliamentary elections to defeat the saffron party.

Notably, Kh Joykisan Singh, Ngursanglur Sanate, Md Achab Uddin, Thangjam Arunkumar and LM Khaute who won the elections to 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly from their respective Constituencies on JD (U) joined BJP in September last year.

Today, a head office of JD (U) Manipur State Unit was inaugurated at Shree Shree Govindajee Road at Palace Compound by Ksh Biren.

At the ceremony, Ksh Biren continued that the Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly hasn't given any response to the memorandum submitted about three months back to disqualify the five 'turncoat' MLAs till date .

He also said that they are prepared to defeat BJP candidates in the 2024 Parliamentary elections in Manipur by forging alliance with Congress and other Opposition parties.

JD (U) is a respectable political party in India which formed an alliance in establishing a Central Government on different occasions, he said and added that the strength of JD (U) is growing across the country.

Maintaining that the State unit of the party has been working to take legal action against the 'turncoat legislators', Ksh Biren said that they will conform to whatever decision taken by the National party leaders to defeat the ruling BJP in the Parliamentary elections.

He further stated that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been playing a key role to form a new Government at the Centre by joining hands with the like minded Opposition parties.

Continuing that the JD (U) at the State will also work together with the Opposition parties to oust the BJP Government, Ksh Biren said that a joint meeting of JD (U) and Congress has also been convened to work out strategies for defeating BJP.

On the opening of the new office, Ksh Biren said that they decided to shift its office to Palace Compound from Hodam Leirak in view of the inconvenience faced by supporters and elders who come to the office as the former office was situated on the second floor.

The programme was also attended by its vice president ex MLA Dr Khwairakpam Loken, National council members of JD (U) and ex-Ministers Dr Nimaichand Luwang and Samuel Jendai and party leader Ashang Kasar among others.
