MNCA Superplate Tournament: PTCC book final ticket with 59-run win over KCC, earn Elite promotion

PTCC-Patsoi Part III cruised into the final of the 2nd MNCA Superplate Tournament and promotion to the Elite tier with a 59-run win over KCC-Kongba Bazar in the first semi-final today.
Group A table toppers, PTCC won the toss and elected to bat first today at Kongba Khunou Dhobi Lampak.
Riding on Paonam Champion's 113-ball 85, they were able to amass 200 runs for all wickets down in 39.1 overs and managed to skittle out KCC for 141 runs in 35.4 overs to secure the final berth.

PTCC did not have best of the start as KCC bowlers pile pressure on the batters with their precisive bowling but Championship stood his ground and forged a 74-run partnership with G Gomi Sharma for the first wicket in 17.5 overs before he holed out to Wahengbam Somorjit off the Hijam Boba's last delivery of the 32 overs for the fifth wicket.
Champion's knocks include 10 fours.
Champion's departure at 164 was the turning point of the innings as wickets kept tumbling before they were bundled out for 200 runs.
Hijam Boba returned with the best bowling figures of 3/46 in 8 overs while Yumnam Sheiteendra (2/14 in 8 overs) and Wahengbam Somorjit (2/40 in 8 overs) finished with two wickets apiece.
Keisham Basantakumar and Kisan Wahengbam of KCC also picked up a wicket each to keep strike rate under check.
In reply, KCC Kongba also faced the same situation with PTCC bowlers giving them the early jitters with Sohail Akram removing the openers within 4.5 overs with 20 runs on the scoreboard.
Nongmaithem Dijaraj who came in for K Mranjojit (5) however kept the scoreboard ticking by pairing up well with Nameirakpam Arbin for the third wicket.
Their partnership was however broken with Arbin getting run out for 21 runs after forging 48 runs with Dijaraj.
Even as the asking rate kept climbing, KCC batters were helpless as Dominic Moirangthem set up Kisan Wahengbam's catch for the fourth wicket in the 24th over and trapped K Basantakumar lbw for the fifth wicket in the 26th over.
Dominic also got rid of Dijaraj, who had been striving with 41 runs, for the 6th wicket to mark the turnaround for the Kongba side.
Naorem Victor (3/41 in 7.4 overs) then swept the tailenders as Sohail (3/21 in 7 overs) picked his third by trapping Okram Netrajit for the eight wicket to cut short the innings.
Dominic Moirangthem of PTCC returned with the best bowling figures of 3/15 in 8 over.
Paonam Champion who added highest 85 for PTCC was adjudged man of the match.
ESU will play KSDO in the second semi-final tomorrow at the same venue.
