Thoubal, September 15 2021:
Announcing his candidacy from Wangkhem assembly constituency for the upcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election scheduled in early next year, former UCM president Yumnam Nabachandra stated that he will contest the election in the true democratic spirit to strengthen democracy.
Speaking at a public meeting held at Phoudel Mamang Leikai of Wangkhem AC on Wednesday, Nabachandra asserted that his priority will be on youth of the state, especially the unemployed.
As most of the denizens of Wangkhem AC belong to minority community and poor households, alleviating poverty and uplift of the minority along with providing efficient irrigation canals to make the constituency self-sufficient in agricultural production would be accorded equal importance, he said.
During the programme, a polling committee for each polling station of Wangkhem AC was also formed under the aegis of Y Nabachandra.
It can be mentioned that in the last assembly election, Nabachandra contested as an NEIDP nominee and suffered defeat to INC's Keisam Meghachandra.
In the upcoming election, he is preparing to join a national party.
