BJP ticket aspirants duping farmers: Ranjit

Sugnu MLA K Ranjit has said that he joined politics to bring peace and unity among hill and valley people of Manipur, which has 2000 years of history and started serving people by contesting election from the year 2000.Speaking at a reception ceremony held for 112 voters of 28 families who joined INC from BJP at Wangoo Laipham Awang community hall on Tuesday, Ranjit alleged that candidate aspirants in Sugnu AC seeking BJP ticket have collected Rs 9 lakh profit from farmers through sale of urea while farmers of the AC were forced to purchase the essential agricultural item from the black market at exorbitant price.
Though agriculture minister O Lukhoi claimed to have provided 10,800 bags of urea for Sugnu AC, the farmers are still facing shortage and this prompted them to purchase urea from black market at exorbitant price, he said.
The Congress MLA also noted that out of the total 10,800 urea bags allocated for Sugnu AC, 4900 bags including 400 provided officially were made available to farmers at government rate plus transportation and labour charges at Rs 330.However, the remaining 5900 bags possessed by candidates vying for BJP ticket and they sold one bag of urea at price ranging from Rs 400 to Rs 700 to poor farmers of Sugnu AC and made Rs 9 lakh profit, Ranjit alleged.
