54th Engineers Day 2021 : Importance of role of engineers deliberated

The 54th Engineers Day 2021 was celebrated on the theme "Engineers for skill development and employment in combating Covid " through hybrid mode with few people attending at the seminar hall of The Institution of Engineers (India) Manipur State Centre, Govt Polytechnic campus, as well as through online platform (Google Meet).
Former chairmen, honorary secretaries, corporate members of IEI, Engineers from various engineering departments of Manipur, representatives from academic institutions and various invitees attended the celebration, said a press release issued by IEI, Manipur State Centre.
Floral tributes were paid to Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, followed by a simple lamp lightening ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, M Lokendro Singh, FIE, former Chairman, IEI Manipur State Centre spoke about the importance of engineers in building a nation.

The dedicated engineers have also worked tirelessly for the society in spite of the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic.
The theme speaker L Niranjan Singh, Director and CEO, JCRE Skill Solutions enlightened the gathering by deliberating on the importance of skills for the emerging youths of the State and the Nation.
He mentioned that, for a person to earn his/her livelihood properly without depending on white-collar jobs, necessary skills must be attained on respective areas.
Case studies of Japan, Korea etc.
were also explained.
He further mentioned that more number of women are now enrolled towards learning more skills which have accelerated the growth of the economy of the State and the Nation.
He also spoke about the present unemployment status for Manipur and explained about the role of his institution in imparting skills to the young generations of the State.
Delivering the presidential speech, Th Joykumar Singh, FIE, Chairman, IEI Manipur State Centre deliberated about the origin of Engineers Day celebration and narrated a brief life story of Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya and how he achieved various positions in different organizations across India.
The Chairman also stated that engineers must be well equipped with necessary skills to solve the ever-growing problems of the society like climate change, energy scarcity problems, lack of clean water, proper drainage and flood problems, food shortage, etc.
