Convocation of Assam Down Town University held

Guwahati, September 15 2021:
Assam Down Town University (AdtU) successfully hosted its 8th convocation ceremony virtually on Wednesday as the prevailing situation is not favourable for conducting an event on a grand scale as usually witnessed at the university, which has over 64+ programs and 250+ faculties.
This year a total of 944 students and research scholars have been awarded degrees, out of which 724 are graduates, 213 postgraduates, and 7 PhD achievers.
The varsity conferred honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) to Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, former Chief Minister of Assam and notable social activist, and Padma Hazarika, an eminent social activist and entrepreneur of Assam.
Governor of Assam Jagdish Mukhi and Registrar of the University Ashim Barman attended the convocation as chief guest and president respectively.
Chancellor Dr NN Dutta and vice-chancellor Dr NC Talukdar were also present on the occasion.
Dean of Studies, professor Bandana Dutta presented PhD Degrees to the seven research scholars.
Deans of various faculties of study announced the names of candidates under their respective undergraduate and postgraduate programmes who have qualified for the conferment of Bachelors and Masters Degrees.
The Governor presented the students their respective degrees.
Jyotismita Sarma (BSc Microbiology) and Jutima Baruah (Msc Microbiology) bagged the Gold medal for the best graduate and the best post graduate of the session 2021 respectively.
A befitting award of appreciation for the Best Placement Achiever of the year was presented to Debapriya Paul (MBA).
Subsequently, the oath of dedication was administered to the degree recipients by Jutima Baruah.
