Seminar on preventing disability held

Imphal, September 15 2021:
With the main objective of identifying Health condition of children so as to prevent them from suffering various forms of disabilities, a seminar was conducted at the auditorium of Manipur Film Development Society located at Palace Compound on Wednesday.
The seminar was organised jointly by Swami Vivekananda National Institute of Rehabilitation & Research, Odisha and Department of Empowerment & Persons with Disabilities, Government of India.
Regarding the seminar, state commissioner for persons with disabilities Th Dilipkumar said that detection of disability symptoms among children within six years could prevent them from becoming disabled in life with physiotherapy and occupational therapy.
As part of government's effort, construction of a Composite Regional Centre at Takyel having various therapy facilities has begun and the centre will provide various facilities to people with disabilities, he said.
Several experts including Swami Vivekananda National Institute of Rehabilitation & Research, Odisha director Dr SP Das talked about neuroplasticity and neuro-motor impairment during the seminar.
