Jiribam, September 15 2021:
The All Jiribam Auto Rickshaw Owners and Drivers' Association (AJARODA) has today conducted inspection drive with a media team at three oil pumps within Jiribam district.
On the sidelines of the drive conducted at three pumps viz- M/S Hrangsing Lienzathang and Sons; M/s Energy Station and M/s Manipur Service Station, Leingankpokpi, AJARODA president Sinam Pisak maintained that the drive was conducted on receipt of complaints of adulteration of fuel and possible cheating by pump staffers.
He said that many people have complained of receiving less fuel (petrol and diesel) and adulteration and they are helpless owing to the absence of District Transport Office (DTO).
It has been a long standing demand of the association to have a DTO in the district which can hear the grievances of the people and take necessary action, he said while urging authorities concerned to set up a DTO in the district at the earliest.
Speaking in this regard, Jiribam Development Organisation president N Sadananda said that Jiribam is one of the most neglected districts in the State.
While expressing discontent over irregularities at pumps and absence of officials concerned to check the ill practices at these pumps which are infuriating the public.
Filling less fuel besides charging extra is something unreasonable and it should be urgently looked into, he said.
While highlighting the inconveniences of the Jiribam public regarding motor vehicle related paperwork and other issues, he also reiterated the proposal for the establishment of DTO which CSOs have been demanding for long.
One staffer of M/s Manipur Service Station had maintained that the pump was newly opened and everyone was welcome to check any irregularities at the pump.
The pump was however not providing service for the day citing machine problems.
