Kangpokpi, September 15 2021:
All Manipur Hill Districts Ex-Autonomous District Council Members (5th term ADC members) on Wednesday took serious note of the state government's plan to go ahead with the recruitment process for various posts under the six ADCs during the absence of elected ADCs in the hills and also expressed resentment over the failure of tabling newly framed ADC Bill, 2021 in the state assembly.
According to ADCs Co-ordination Committee Manipur, a general body meeting of ex-ADC members (5th Term) was held on September 13 at Council House, Chingmeirong, during which members present adopted various resolutions.
The meeting took serious note of the state government's plan to go ahead with the recruitment process for appointment to various posts under the six ADCs during the absence of elected ADCs in the hills.
It then decided to urge the state government to halt the said recruitment process until the elected ADCs are installed and cautioned that if the state government insisted on going ahead with the said recruitment process, they will be compelled to take their own course of action deemed appropriate to uphold the dignity of the ADCs.
They also unanimously expressed strong resentment towards the state government for its refusal to table the ADC Bill, 2021 in the last Assembly session.
The meeting also resolved to fully support any kinds of movement launched by ATSUM and other hill-based CSOs until the ADC Bill, 2021 is tabled and passed in the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
While strongly condemning the arbitrary action of the speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly in inducting 8 valley MLAs to HAC, the ex-ADC members also urged the state government not to repeat such unconstitutional move in the future.
