2 kg opium seized; dealer couple flee

Churachandpur, August 19 2022:
A team of Churachandpur police station seized 2 kg of opium and Rs 1,20,000 cash from the house of one Paokai (40), son of Seikhonham of Patlen village on August 17 .
However, accused Paokai and his wife Hatkhochin reportedly fled from their residence before the police raid.
According to police re ports, based on reliable information, a team of Churachandpur police station raided a suspected house located at Patlen village belonging to Paokai around 5:30 pm on August 17.As the police approached the house, one man and one woman were seen running away towards the hilly jungle.
Subsequently, the team conducted a search in the jungles but could not find them.
However, the police team during the search of the house in the presence of witnesses detected about 2 kg of contraband drug, opium from inside a wooden cabinet along with Rs 1,20,000 in cash, which were then seized.
A case has been registered under ND&PS Act at Churachandpur police station against the husband-and-wife duo for further investigation.
