Sit-in demands justice for 'murdered' Robindro

Locals of Taothong Apheibi Ward Number 8 staged a sit-in protest on Saturday demanding justice for one Leishangthem Robindro, who is suspected to have been murdered.
Speaking to the media, Robindro's sister namely Angom (Ongbi) Thoibi recounted that the family was informed by one Jiban about her brother admitted at RIMS hospital around 4 pm on November 15 .
Some family members rushed to the hospital only to find Robindro's lifeless body lying at the hospital's mortuary, she said.
As fall from rooftop of the house he was engaged for construction at Thongju Boroi Makhong was cited as the cause of death, the family members claimed the body for conduct of the last rites, Thoibi said.
However, on examination of the body, an injury mark likely to be have been inflicted by a sharp weapon was observed on Robindro's chest and consequently the detection was reported to Singjamei police station.
After registering an FIR, police assessed the worksite where Robindro and another mason Jiban worked and recovered a knife with blood stains.
Though the police picked out Jiban for questioning there has been no intimation about findings of the police investigation till date, Thoibi lamented and appealed to authorities concerned for delivery of swift justice and punishment of the culprit(s) involved.
