TRAI organises Special Consumer Outreach Programme

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Regional Office Kolkata today organised a Special Consumer Outreach Programme at Churachandpur as a part of TRAI's Silver Jubilee celebration.
The programme was conducted to educate customers about the various initiatives taken by TRAI to safeguard the interest of consumers and regulatory provisions available for consumer protections, said a release issued by PIB Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion, RR Tiwari, advisor legal, TRAI Headquarter highlighted the complaint redressal mechanism available to the customers for lodging and resolving any complaint related to service.
Amit Ghosal, joint advisor, Regional Office, stated that the programme was conducted to generate awareness among telecom consumers about various regulatory provisions made available by TRAI for safeguarding consumer interests.
Dr SK Samanta, advisor Kolkata highlighted various technical developments taking place in the communication arena and emphasized on the need for public participation in the process.
Vishwa Mohan, dy director general, Department of Telecom enlightened the participants about the misconceptions regarding electro-magnetic radiation emitting from telecom towers and steps taken by DoT in this regard.
The programme was attended by officers of DoT and IT Department of Manipur Government, representatives of Telecom Service Providers, MSOs, Consumer Advocacy Groups and people of Churachandpur district.
