MPCC lashes at Govt

In a veiled attack on the BJP Government, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president K Meghachandra has asked if people are still entitled to freedom of expression during a Constitution Day observance at Congress Bhavan today.
At the programme attended by several Congress leaders, Meghachandra continued that the purpose of holding the event is to promote the value of the supreme legal document.
"It would be proper to analyse if the judiciary, executive and legislative still deliver justice to the people and protect the rights of the people on such important occasions," he said.
Former Chief Minister and CLP leader Okram Ibobi said that the Indian Constitution is the largest Constitution of the world and it was drafted under the chairmanship of Dr BR Ambedkar.
Saying that the volume of the Constitution is quite large as it has been amended on different occasions, the former Chief Minister maintained that "we must not ignore such a significant day.
He stated Congress is a party which believes in social equality and secularism.
