Manipuri IRB jawan kills colleagues in Gujarat

Imphal, November 26 2022:
A rifleman of the 3rd India Reserve Battalion (IRB) opened fire at his colleagues in Gujarat's Porbandar on Saturday evening, killing two IRB jawans and injuring another two.
Sources said that the two dead IRB personnel identified as Havildar Th Thoiba and rifleman Jitendra Singh belonged to 3rd IRB.
The two injured victims are rifleman L Suranjit of 3rd IRB and rifleman Kh Ruhikanta of 4th IRB.
The rifleman, who shot them with his service rifle AK-47 has been identified as S Inaocha.
The injured jawans have been shifted to Jamnagar government hospital where their conditions are stated to be serious.
Porbandar DC Ashok Sharma told the local media that around 7 pm, a jawan named S Inaocha opened fire from his AK 47 assault rifle, which killed Thoiba and Jitendra.
Sharma added that two other IRB personnel suffered bullet injuries and are presently undergoing treatment at Jamnagar government hospital.
Porbandar District Superintendent of Police and his team have reached the spot where the battalion is stationed.
The situation is under control now, and the police will probe the matter after registering a case, Sharma said.
Meanwhile, IGP Mayank Chhabra of Gujarat police told The People's Chronicle that the Ad-hoc team of IRB from Manipur came to the state for the Gujarat state assembly election, which will be held in two phases on December 1 and 5 .
They are stationed in a cyclone centre in Navi Bandar locality in Porbandar district.
Rifleman Inaocha opened fire with his Ak-47 rifles leading to the death of two of his colleagues and injury of two others.
A case has been registered at Gosa police station and police have taken custody of rifleman Inaocha, the IGP added.
