The three candidates in fray for the seat of Wangoi constituency vowed to improve the local economy and the state in general when The People's Chronicle interacted with them so as to understand their stand and vision.
NPP candidate Khuraijam Loken confided that he is contesting the election to end the trend of winning votes through use of unfair means and accumulation of wealth under the garb of serving the people.
Stating that around 90 per cent of the people in the constituency are working class, he assured of taking up several schemes and projects to enhance their economy.
Loken further said that he will work to make the state self-reliant and frame policies to systematically utilise the local resources.
Meanwhile, INC candidate Salam Joy Singh explained that the reason for contesting election is to work for the people sincerely.
All the government benefits meant for the people will be made available to the targeted beneficiaries if he wins the election, Joy said and vowed to bring work culture so as to bring an egalitarian society.
He continued that he will focus on improving the conditions of farmers and peasants and enhancing their economy.
On the other hand, BJP candidate Oinam Lukhoi highlighted shortage in his constituency despite being a sub-divisional headquarters.
While conceding that he could not do much to fill up the inadequacies during his two terms, the sitting MLA said he will strive to complete pending projects for the people's welfare.
Lukhoi also stressed the need to frame policies so that youth can be self reliant and wished to make Wangoi, the headquarters of a full-fledged district.
Pointing out that the youth are very talented, he said that he will utilise their talents to pave way for improving economy of the state.
