Imphal, February 18 2022:
Independent candidate Khwairakpam Robin, who is contesting from Sekmai assembly constituency, has said that the ILP System implemented in the state is just for namesake and it cannot protect the indigenous people of the state.
Speaking at his flag hoisting ceremony held at his residence on Friday, Robin asserted that the state needs strong leaders, who can take a firm stand on the floor of the assembly for the protection of indigenous people of the state.
The ILP System implemented by the BJP government is toothless and it needs effective rules and guidelines to provide constitutional protection to the people of the state, he said.
Most of the politicians of the state lack proper understanding of problems afflicting the state and they are not able to raise strong voice for resolving various issues.
As a result, various issues continue to afflict state without any solution, he said.
Informing that he had worked as a BJP member at the national level for a long time.
Robin said that he did not apply for the party's ticket and instead, he chose to contest the election as an independent candidate as he does not want to be bound by the instruction of party high command while carrying out his duty to the state and its people, Robin contended.
He also said that Sekmai AC is in backward condition due to incompetency of past MLAs.
He is contesting the election to bring all round development in the constituency and also to fight for the rights and protection of the indigenous people of the state.
