United College, Chandel celebrates

The 42nd foundation day of United College, Lambung, Chandel was celebrated at College's Arts Block on Friday.
The celebration led by College principal Dr BD Ihumdal was attended by its late principal Th Oliver Monsang's wife Ng Elishama Monsang, Alumni Association president Chandel Dr Sh Wilson, teaching and non-teaching staff along with students.
The programme was marked by observance of a two-minute silence in memory of departed governing body members, teaching and non-teaching staff.
Gifts were also presented to staffers in appreciation of their exemplary works followed presentation of song and dance by students.
Speaking' at the programme, Dr BD Thumdal recalled how the College was established on this day in 1980 and the then chief minister Rishang Keishing upgrading it into a full-fledged government college on June 1, 1996 after much effort made by the then Chandel MLA and college's governing body chairman Bd Behring.
The College was accredited 'B' by NAAC in 2006.Now, the College is becoming a top grade one due to the efforts of teaching and non-teaching staff along with its students, he said, while appealing to the staff to continue teaching in regular manner and the students to attend their classes regularly.
