Eat Right walkathon / Mela conducted

Pherzawl, December 15 2022:
Food Safety Administration, Pherzawl under the guidance of Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) observed Eat Right Walkathon cum Mela alongside the 6th District Hill Leaders' Day & Meeyamgi Numit at DC Office Complex at Pherzawl district headquarters.
The programme began with a Walkathon at 8 am from the entry point of Pherzawl village to For est Office Junction flagged off by the DC in a move to spread awareness on healthy lifestyle to make the right food choices as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The mela was attended by Pherzawl deputy commissioner Haulianlal Guite, SP A Ghaneshyam Sharma, Tipaimukh SDO I Dinesh Kumar and other DLOs apart from several non-profit organisations, public and school going children.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC urged all to prepare healthy meals at home as such food can support immune system and reduce the risk of illnesses.
He further stated that to ensure safety & well-being, the mela provides an opportunity to learn about safe food and healthy diets, including health and nutrition benefits of food.
Pherzawl FSOS Surendro Singh presented the key note address of the pro gramme and also briefed the gathering on common food adulteration and importance of eating food right.
As part of the event, nine stalls displaying organic products were set up and painting competitions organised for school students in different categories.
