To protest bid to 'lock' godown of Khwairamband Keithel No 1, Womenfolk storm IMC office

Womenfolk stormed the Imphal Municipal Corporation office today demanding an explanation for the alleged attempt by the corporation to lock down the godown of Khwairam-band Keithel No 1 (Ima Leimarel Sidabi) .
The angry womenfolk/vendors said two persons who claimed to be staff of the IMC, identified as Rohit and Bhogen, tried to lock the godown using foul language.
The two allegedly said they came to lock the godown as there were "Ras Leela" happening there.
Storming the IMC, the womenfolk demanded IMC, Rohit and Bhogen to clarify the meaning of "Ras Leela".
They said the attitude of the two persons who claimed to be staff of the IMC were rude and uncalled for.

Khwairamband Ema Leimarel Sidabi Lukmai Sellup vice president Khongbantabam Leiren-tombi told reporters that the words used by the two staff of the IMC have maligned the image of the women of the market before the world.
"The women of the Ima Keithel are respected globally.
However, the attitude and the words used by the two persons that there has been 'Ras Leela' going on at the godown has maligned the image of the women and is an act of painting black ink on the face of the women" she said.
The two persons claiming to be IMC staff came to the market at around 8.30/9 am.
They identified themselves as Rohit and Bhogen and said they came to lock the godown.
When they were told that the godown had articles and goods of women vendors inside, the two asked the women to remove their belongings.
They also asked the women to come to the IMC office to talk over the issue.
When asked the reason for the IMC wanting to lock the godown, the two allegedly said that it was because of the "Ras Leela" that had been going on inside.
After heated arguments, the two returned without locking the godown.
During the protest, the women were unable to meet the officers of the IMC.
They also claimed that there had been no order issued by the IMC to lock the godown.
