Imphal, December 15 2022:
Poiroupat Loukon Farmer's Development Cooperative Society Limited has called for the removal of encroachments in Poiroupat Loukon under Andro Constituency.
A statement issued by Khulem Tomchou, secretary, Poiroupat Loukon Farmer's Development Cooperative Society Limited has shared that around 50 years ago, there was a road roughly 25-30 feet wide running for a length of 3 km in Poiroupat Loukon.
Due to continued encroachment upon this road by the agricultural land owners on either side, there is barely a path left when once upon a time the road was wide enough for two bullock carts to pass through, the statement added.
Subsequently, farmers have to deal with a lot of inconveniences in making their way in and out of Poiroupat Loukon, the Society has informed.
In view of these circumstances, Poiroupat Loukon Farmer's Development Cooperative Society Limited has appealed to relevant land owners for the removal of encroachment on the said road, while cautioning that otherwise, a request will be made to the Imphal East DC to conduct an eviction drive.
The statement also forbade the land owners from putting the encroached portion of land in their property deed.
Further, Poiroupat Loukon Farmer's Development Cooperative Society Limited has informed that in case Yairipok Tulihal SDC is found including these encroached land in the property deed of the land owners, then the Society will resort to legal recourse and handle the matter as necessary.
