Rs 404.48 crore earmarked for CCpur-Tuiva road project

Union minister Nitin Gadkari has informed chief minister N Biren that the Ministry of road transport & highways has earmarked Rs 404.48 crore for development of a road connecting Manipur and Mizoram.
As informed by Nitin Gadkari to CM Biren, the ministry earmarked Rs 404.48 crore for double Lining of the 51.89 km long Churachandpur Tuiva road which will be developed in three phases.
After getting the information from Nilin Gadkari, CM Biren said in one of his social media posts that developing the highway will significantly improve connectivity between Ma nipur and Mizoram and thanked PM Narendra Modi and Nitin Gadkari for the initiative.
According to CM Biren, the development has come after the ADC level summit held on January 15 this year at Manipur Mizoram border town of Tuivai.
Additional DC Churachandpur S Khaikhopao Ngaihte represented the state while ADC Margaret Ma rini of Saituwal district represented Mizoram in the summit.
The summit was aimed at resolving the land acquisition issue for constructing abutment A2 and pier P2 in Tuivai river on the Mizoram side, During the summit, both the ADCs appealed to the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Champhai to do the necessary rectification in the Parivesh Portal of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, subsequent to the withdraw al of the petition by the Forest Department, Mizoram.
Meanwhile, the Centre sanctioned Rs 31 crore for development of Khawlian-Daido-Bhangkot Road in Manipur-Mizoram border and this road will boost connectivity between Khawlian in Mizoram and villages of Manipur.
The road when completed will link Khawlian and surrounding villages in the northeastern part of the state with Churachandpur district.
