Speaking as chief guest of the Patanjali Mahila Divas and Bharat Nav-Varsh Mahotsav organised by Patanjali Mahila Yog Samiti (PMYS) held at Star Club community all, Langjing Achouba on Saturday, Professor Priyosakhi expressed elation over presence of leaders of 15 branches of PMYS for the event in-spite of sluggishness in movement of Yoga in the state.
While observing that benefits of Yoga in prevention of ailments and post-treatment rehabilitation therapy are well known among the people as is evident from Yoga forming part of treatment process and finding a place in books on allopathic medicine, she stressed on the need for promoting Yoga.
On the other hand, she said, courage of Manipuri women is inscribed in many historical and contemporary incidents including the Nupilal.
The state is at the forefront of women empowerment.
However, there are still many issues faced by women, the chief guest said and also emphasised on the roles of both men and women in bringing development in a society.

Liquor addiction among male has been a social issue and joining the bandwagon by women will lead the society to chaos, Priyosakhi cautioned, while calling for staying away from such trends.
Emphasising on the role played by women in a family, which is a constituent unit of the society, she called for upholding the traditional values of families and society.
