College authority, classmates flay NRFM allegation

The governing body, teaching staff, non-teaching staff and students of Damdei Christian College have denounced the drug peddler tag put on slain Seigunlal Misao by NRFM and staged a sit-in-protest on Wednesday.
Classmates of Seigunlal also took part in the protest held on the roadside of National High-way-2 from 11.30 am till 1 pm.
The protestors held placards and shouted slogans such as 'We strongly reject the baseless allegation', 'We stand because we care', 'Book the culprits', 'Allegations after killing is unacceptable', 'Seigunlal Misao is innocent', 'Punish those in the barbaric killing', 'Student life matter', 'Killing student is a heinous crime', 'Stop this act of terrorism', and 'We want justice'.
Speaking to the media, academic dean of Damdei Christian College Y Somananda Singh, who had been serving in the college for more than 30 years, strongly refuted the drug peddler tag on Seigunlal by the armed NRFM and termed the allegation as a challenge to education sector and student fraternity of the state.
Rejecting the NRFM's allegations, Somananda said that the whole college authority, teaching faculties, non-teaching staff and students of the college are well aware about obedience, honesty and talent of Seigunlal Misao.
He further said that Seigunlal attended his classes regularly and had no complaint over his morality.
Meanwhile, Seigunlal's classmate K Sennu Lhouvum remember Seigunlal as a kind hearted student, who never indulged in activities related to drugs and any other harmful substances.
According to College principal Lamgoumang Sitlhou, Seigunlal was a rule-abiding and faithful student.
He said that the brutal act of killing Seigunlal deserved outright condemnation from all sections of society and NRFM should come forward and give a satisfactory explanation or else the outfit's action will be treated as act of terrorism.
Lamgoumang also appealed to the government and authorities concerned on behalf of the college governing body, teaching faculties, non-teaching staff and students to employ all possible means for nabbing the culprit(s) at the earliest and award appropriate punishment as per law of the land.
