Bail granted to Mark Haokip suspended

The court of special judge (NIA), Imphal West suspended the bail granted to Mark Thangmang Haokip after he failed to execute the mandatory PR bond of Rs 2 lakh.
The court had on Tuesday granted bail to Mark but suspended the same during hearing of another related case on Wednesday.
Mark Thangmang Haokip (38) of Molnom, Churachandpur had been under judicial custody since June 9, 2022, after his arrest on May 30 the same year in connection with an FIR registered under various sections of IPC and UA (P) for making hate speech/comment.
Hearing of the criminal miscellaneous (No.43 of 2023) in the court of special judge (NIA), Imphal West with the state of Manipur as applicant and Lhaineikim Louvum alias Kikim, wife of Mark Haokip as respondent was conducted on Wednesday, during which special PP Niranjan Sanasam submitted an application signed by joint secretary (home) Dr Th Charanjit Singh and prayed for rejecting the bail granted to Mark as per the common order passed under CrPC 439 (2) on March 28 .
The application also sought modification of the same.
After perusal of the application, the court said that the accused failed to execute necessary bond relating to two cases, criminal miscellaneous (B) No 3 of 2023 and criminal miscellaneous (B) No 45 of 2023.Accordingly, the court sent notice to superintendent of Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa to give reply within April 3 and also fixed the same day (April 3, 2023) for objection hearing.
The court also suspended the common order passed relating to criminal miscellaneous (B) case No 3 of 2023 and criminal miscellaneous (B) No.45 of 2023 until further order.
