Experiments, innovations on chemical science are vital for society's functioning, says Dr Ranjan

A one day National Conference on the topic "Emerging challenges in the frontiers of Chemical Science" was held at the Chemistry Department of Manipur University (MU) today.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan; MU Vice-Chancellor Professor N Lokendra; Head of the Department of Chemistry Professor N Rajen and Dean of the School of Mathematics and Physical Sciences Professor S Dorendrajit graced the inaugural function as the chief guest, president and guests of honor respectively.
The National Conference was organized by the Manipur University Chemistry Alumni Association.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Sapam Ranjan said that chemical science has always been involved in human society.

He continued that the new experimentations and innovations on chemical science are vital for the functioning of human society as many new diseases and illnesses continue to surface from time to time.
Stating that the strong waves of COVID-19 pandemic had taught the whole world that human beings need to be always prepared for facing any eventuality, the Minister maintained that organizing National conferences and related activities on chemistry is important as new ideas and innovations will come out from such programmes.
He also lauded the contributions of the students and teachers of the Chemistry Department MU for making hand sanitizers during the rough times of Covid pandemic in the State thereby helping to meet the high demand of the public.
Delivering the presidential speech, Professor N Lokendra expressed contentment that the alumni of the Manipur University have started to play important roles in the activities of the varsity.
He further stated that alumni are a source of academic inputs in a university and instrumental in attracting the students of their alma mater.
The Vice Chancellor exuded confidence that the conference will inspire the young students and scholars of the Chemistry department of the varsity.
Appreciation certificates were also distributed to the students of Manipur University who made hand sanitizers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
