Ex-MLA Surchandra assures infrastructure development

Flag hoisting ceremony of BJP candidate in Kakching assembly constituency Yengkhom Surchandra was held at his Kakching Turel Wangma residence on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Y Surchandra asserted if he is elected his priority will be to fill up the required infrastructure in the AC.
Bringing equal development in areas that are underdeveloped in the constituency including Irengband, Hawairou, Mairenbam, Sora, etc., will also be accorded importance, he said and assured that as Muslims of Sora are suffering from want of education, he will work on improving it.
He will try to bring Kakching Lamkhai under Kakching Municipal Council to form Greater Kakching, he assured.
Surchandra continued that during his tenure as the MLA he proposed to the centre for establishing a district hospital in Kakching which has been approved at a cost of Rs 60 crore.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has envisioned setting up of medical colleges in every large district.
Kakching with large population, big business and education centre and connected to the proposed Trans Asian Highway deserves to have a medical college, Surchandra said.
The former MLA informed that the Kakching Water Supply Scheme was upgraded during his first term as MLA based on the 2001 census.
However, as the population of Kakching has increased 45 times, he will work to upgrade the scheme again on par with present requirements.
He also promised proper demarcation of the district's boundaries, sent proposal for blacktopping of 6-7 km long stretch of road connecting Kakching Mayai Leikai with Loushi, improve economy, create employment opportunities for the youth by introducing skill development training, establish small scale agro-based, handloom and handicraft industries etc.
Surchandra also said that he will look into addressing drug menace in the state, repeal of AFSPA from the state and strive for holding talks between the government and insurgents.
