Imphal, February 17 2022:
Launching another stinging verbal attack on partner BJP, Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar has stated that Chief Minister N Biren is an incompetent leader who doesn't know the meaning of partnership.
Addressing the flag hoisting ceremony of NPP candidate in Sekmai Assembly Constituency Ayangbam Oken today, the Deputy Chief Minister continued that N Biren Singh demonstrated his incompetence in leading a coalition Government on many occasions.
Claiming that the BJP continuously tries to belittle the contributions of NPP to keep the coalition intact, the Deputy Chief Minister said that this goes against the principle of coalition partnerships.
Further stating that the incumbent coalition Government exists only in name as the BJP often attempted to take merit for all the works, the Deputy Chief Minister asserted that NPP will teach BJP a befitting lesson by winning more seats than them in the forthcoming election.
People have reposed their faith in the NPP, he said and added that the party will emerge as the single largest though the number of its candidates has been reduced from 42 to 38 .
Asserting that 34 of the NPP candidates have high prospects of winning, Y Joykumar said that the NPP will surely win 20 seats at the minimum and take the lead in Government formation.
He further stated that Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma is much more experienced in heading a Government than N Biren Singh though the latter mocks the former as 'Shillong Boy' occasionally.
"Instead of being active in spreading propaganda, deliver good governance to the people," he asserted and continued that neither the BJP nor the Congress will win more than 15 seats under any circumstances.
A Oken said that he understands the plight of the poor section in the Constituency as he himself was born and brought up in a humble family.
The NPP candidate said that he would work his best to develop Sekmai on all fronts if elected.
He also asked the BJP to identify at least one village in Sekmai where the rate of tap water connection exceeds 5 percent.
