Election office of JDU's Kangpokpi candidate vandalised

Unknown assailants riding a Bolero with BJP flags allegedly vandalised the election office of Janata Dal (United) candidate Soshin Gurung of Kangpokpi AC located at Middle Kalapahar.
The alleged incident occurred yesterday night around 7 pm.
As per a statement, the armed miscreants allegedly threatened the JD(U) supporters which included women and physically manhandled them at gunpoint.
They also fired several rounds of bullets.
The commotion caused many civilians to gather at the election office where they attempted to capture the assailants.
Altogether, around 20 civilians suffered minor injuries while some were severely hurt and rushed to the hospital, added the statement.
The statement further shared that a joint action committee has been formed in this regard and a list of demands tabled, which include: booking of the culprits within 24 hours; deployment of one company each of para military forces in each and every Gorkha inhabited village within 48 hours; to declare 50/26, 50/27, 50/28, 50/32, 50/33, 50/34, 50/35, 50/14 and 50/15 as hyper sensitive areas immediately; for the ECI and Govt of Manipur to ensure that all Gorkha voters be allowed to cast their votes in a free and fair manner without any harassment, among others.
The statement further cautioned that if the listed demands are not met within the stipulated time, the Gorkha community will launch an intensive agitation across the State.
