Imphal, February 17 2022:
Taking digs at the election manifesto of the BJP which was released today, AICC senior observer Jairam Ramesh today said that the BJP stands for 'Bharatiya Jumla Party' and questioned why it did not open its mouth on important issues such as AFSPA.
Jairam Ramesh made the caustic remark to mark the release of a booklet entitled "5 years of Darkness in Manipur under BJP misrule" at Congress Bhavan.
Important issues of the State such as AFSPA was not even hinted at, leave alone mentioned in its election manifesto, added Ramesh.
Accusing the BJP of only giving hollow promises, the AICC leader said that the BJP's election manifesto also does not touch on other points of the State such as farmer issues and Minimum Support Price (MSP) .
The AICC senior observer also stated that the booklet highlights issues of unemployment, financial mismanagement, regressive financial policy, corruption, infrastructure, environment, drug crimes and political nexus, gold smuggling, administrative failure, COVID mismanagement, inefficiencies of Manipur Public Service Commission, Constitutional crisis, border issue and Naga peace talk.
How is the BJP combating the Covid pandemic as only 47 percent of the State eligible population had been fully vaccinated till yesterday, he asked.
Unlike BJP, Congress has a prime focus on addressing genuine issues of the State, he added.
