Training of poll personnel, commissioning of EVMs & VVPATs conducted

Second round of randomization and commissioning of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPAT) to be used for the ensuing Assembly Election was held today at the Mini Secretariat complex in Bishnupur.
The entire randomization and commissioning process was carried out as per procedures laid down by Election Commission of India through EVM Management System (EMS) .
Central Election Observers, representatives of contesting candidates, DEO Bishnupur, Returning Officers and other election officials of the district were present during the exercise.
During the programme, District Election Officer, L Bikram informed that on completion of commissioning, the EVMs and VVPATs will be stored and sealed in a strong room.
Besides putting under 24x7 CCTV surveillance, two-fold security measures will be deployed for the strong room.
He continued that Central Armed Police Forces will guard the strong room in addition to State forces deployed within the vicinity of Mini Secretariat complex.
Entry in the strong room without authorization from DEO will be restricted.
Meanwhile, a training programme for polling teams appointed for Absentee Voters was conducted today at PRC Hall in Mini Secretariat complex.
Altogether 19 polling teams composed of Supervisors, Polling Officers and Videographers attended the training.
The poll personnel will carry out house to house visits of approved absentee voters from February 18-21 to provide the facility of voting through ballot at their homes.
Second round of house visits for left-out absentee voters, if required, will be implemented on February 23 .
According to the District Election Office, Bishnupur, the district has 656 approved Absentee Voters Senior Citizens (AVSC) and 170 approved Absentee Voters Persons with Disabilities (AAVPD) .
There are no applicants for Absentee Voters Covid Suspects/Affected (AVCO) so far.
A complete list of eligible absentee voters from all the 6 constituencies of the district have been forwarded to all the 22 contesting candidates by the Returning Officers.
Churachandpur
The constituency-wise commissioning of EVMs and VVPAT machines is being conducted at DTC Hall, Tuibong.
The commissioning was conducted under the supervision of AROs in the presence of Observers, ROs, contesting candidates or their designated agents.
The commissioning procedure will only be completed after mock polls are conducted to ensure the flawless functioning of the machines.
Once the commissioning process is completed, the machines will be stored and sealed in the strong rooms located at Old Mini-Secretariat, Tuibong.
Meanwhile, the final round of training for polling personnel began today at St Mary's Higher Secondary School, Tuibong.
The training will be carried out till February 22, 2022 .
Moreover, special training for all newly appointed and promoted PRO (Female) and other polling officers, PwDs polling personnel and other PRO requiring additional training was organized at Rengkai Government Hr Sec School, Rengkai since yesterday.
