Imphal, February 17 2022:
While declaring that the Naga People's Front (NPF) will never deviate from its stand to safeguard the rights and integrity of Nagas, Front's state president and forest minister Awangbow Newmai sought the support of the people in the upcoming assembly election to help the party realise its objective.
Speaking at an election campaign of the NPF for the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election held in Tamenglong district's Apollo (Lower) Ground, he maintained that NPF always stood for the cause of Nagas and will never betray the trust of the people.
He also gave a clarion call to the gathering to wake up and make use of NPF to voice their grievances.
The NPF state chief also promised more developmental projects in the district while highlighted the various achievements made during his tenure.
He announced that a new helipad for Tamenglong has been approved and is now underway and also mentioned that the Tamenglong-Mahor highway which is under-construction will play a very important role in providing better connectivity.
Awangbow also mentioned that AFSPA, which has brought suffering to the people of the state, Nagas in particular, should be repealed.
"Imposing AFSPA shows that government of India do not trust the Nagas and is not sincere in its agreement with the Nagas and therefore should be repealed," he said.
The election campaign event was also attended by NPF central working president and Election Management 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election chairman Samuel Risom, Nagaland forest minister YM Yollow and NPF Tamenglong division president Joseph Newme among others.
