Imphal, December 04 2022:
CAF & PD minister L Susindro has appealed to people and organisations including students' bodies not to interfere in activities related with films and songs.
Minister Susindro made this appeal during the final round cum prize distribution ceremony of the 9th Manipuri modern song competition organised by the Artiste Training cum Educational Research Centre (ATERC) at GM Hall, here, on Sunday.
Attending as chief guest of the function, L Susindro said that the reason behind gradual degeneration of Manipuri films needs to be discussed thoroughly as it is natural for cinema halls to go extinct gradually if there is no return on the investment.
Unlike around 10 years back when scores of Manipuri films were produced in a year, film producers nowadays are reluctant to produce films in view of losses they suffered.
Singers and lyricists were happy when Manipuri films had a proper platform but they have suffered now as not many Manipuri films are made in a year, he said and appealed to people, organisations including students' bodies not to impose ban on artistes.
Any problem related to film fraternity or singers' body could be resolved through dialogue and imposing ban on film or artistes create enormous problem for them, he added.
The closing function was also attended by ATERC president Sobita Soubam, special contractor Ningthoujam Bimol and AIR Imphal former announcer KK Wahengbam.
Mangiraj Nongthombam of Ngairangbam Makha Leikai won the top prize of Manipuri modern song competition followed by Lingjel Ashangbam of Wangkhei Khunou in second while Hidangmayum Omita of Nachou Mayai Leikai and Mayanglambam Robert of Kakching Chumang Leikai were declared joint winner of the third prize.
