Jiribam youth encouraged to become accomplished individuals

Jiri College principal Dr Th Randhoni has advised the youth of Jiribam district to understand the situation in the district with the arrival of train service and focus on their study to become accomplished individuals in their lives in order to take control of the district instead of later rueing wealthy businessmen from dictating terms.
She was attending the prize distribution ceremony of the first pre-matric merit test and first Ningtham Lamjel organised by Meiyon Society, Jiribam held at JMC auditorium, Babupara here on Sunday.
Dr Randhoni and Meiyon Society president Konjengbam Ratan attended the event as chief guest and president respectively while deputy inspector of schools, ZEO Jiri Lukram Roshan and Jiribam Olympic Association president L Ranjit Kumar were present as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Th Randhoni observed such competitive events will help in shaping the youth, who are the pillars of the future society.
Edu cation and health are among the most important aspects of life and it is indeed a good initiative from Meiyon Society to encourage the youth to focus on their study and health as well, the principal said.
She said that Jiribam is still a backward district and arrival of train service has put the district in a difficult situation while keeping aside the benefits from the improvement of transportation facilities.
As most of the families in the district are poor failure to join the competitive field of education will prove costly for the district as wealthy businessmen would take over the district, the principal cautioned while encouraging the younger generation to focus on their education to become accomplished individuals in their lives.
She further said that teachers alone cannot bring improvement among the students.
It needs coordinated efforts from the teachers, students and their parents.
While noting that district's denizens were elated when Jiri College started offering courses in science stream, she described as disheartening over the present state of the college and urged parents to opt for government schools and colleges as pursuing edu cation in these institutions are almost free of cost.
Moreover, government educational institutions can be developed through concerted efforts of the teachers, students, parents and government as well, Dr Randhoni added.
Sambanduram Sumitku mar of Jiri Public English School and Seram Pritamjit of RK Sanatombi Vidyalaya shared the first position in the pre-matric merit test.
Aleena Moirangthem of Highway English School and Debjani Roy of Blooming Flower Children's Foundation School shared the second position while Issac Riang of Cambridge English School bagged the third position.
In the Ningtham Lamjel, Samim Ahmed of Pailapul Cachhar, Assam, L Somorendro of Jiribam Khunou and Md Ali Ibrahim of Sonapur won the top three positions respectively.
Cash awards and certificates were distributed to the winners of both competitions.
