Seigouchom, Chaoba bag gold on last day of State Wrestling Championship

Imphal, December 04 2022:
Seigouchom Haokip and S Chaoba secured top podium honours on the last day of the State Wrestling Championship 2022 at SAI STC Hall, Khuman Lampak on Sunday.
Seigouchom Haokip beat Waikhom Jotishwor Meitei in the final of the senior men's U-57kg freestyle contest to walk home with the gold medal.
S Chaoba, on the other hand, won the U-15 girls' 54kg freestyle event.
She out-wrestled LC Sophiya in their final duel.
L Jeshika and Kh Thouba Chanu shared the third place.
Earlier on Saturday, Yaikhom James clinched the senior men's U-61kg freestyle category after defeating Moirangthem Bikash as Thingnam Nongpoknganba settled for the third place.
Sharungbam Brajendraku-mar emerged the victor in his gold-medal duel against Salam Yaiphaba Luwang in the senior men's U-65kg freestyle.
Lalgoljam Johnson got the better of Lalngamba Irom to bag the gold medal in the senior men's U-70kg freestyle.
Other wrestlers who emerged top finishers in freestyle competition in different categories on the first day (Dec 3) of the championship were Sanjrambam Heithoiba, Yaikhom Jelendra, W Kh Boboy, Nameirakpam Napoleon, Yumnam Dingku, Naorem Lamnganba, Luwang Chanu Linthoi, Epham Taniya Khan, Bina N, Veeraj Yanglem, Akoijam Fijifilm Angom, Potshangbam Lingjenthoi and Chesan Rabiya.
