Imphal, December 11 2022:
Manipur People's Democratic Front (MPDF) has urged all the 60 MLAs and three MPs of Manipur to think beyond party lines, leave behind the narrow concept of 'opposition' and 'ruling' and contribute their mite in making Manipur a model state.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, on Sunday, MPDF secretary Sapam Samungou observed that even after 50 years of attaining statehood, the contribution made by the elected people's representatives of Manipur is negligible and there is nothing worth mentioning.
"To make the state developed in every aspect, we need to make every village and every constituency developed.
Only then we can dream of a strong and developed Manipur", he said.
Reminding the fact that a model village or a constituency needs to progress in every field and grow fast in all sectors, in addition to having the sense of civic responsibility among its citizens, Sapam Samungou said that such developments are nowhere to be seen in the state.
Therefore, it is the duty of the elected representatives of the state to create an enabling environment and make Manipur emerge as a model state.
Maintaining that building infrastructures, repairing roads and demolishing undesired schools cannot be termed as development, Samungou proposed that all the MLAs and MPs cutting across party lines work together and take up necessary measures to make Manipur a model state for others to follow.
