Seminar on NEP, teacher education concludes

The two-day national seminar on the topic 'NEP (National Education Policy), 2000 and its implications in teacher education in North East India', which was jointly organised by DM College of Teacher education (DMCTE) and Vidya Bharati Ucha Siksha Sansthan, North-East region, concluded on Saturday.
The concluding session was attended by Manipur University registrar W Chandrababu as chief guest, DMCTE principal Dr RK Lo-kendra Singh as president and UGC member professor Kiran Hazarika as guest of honour.
In his speech, professor Chandrababu said that NEP-2000 could bring a significant change in the education system of the country but requires effective implementation of the policy both in schools and colleges.
There would be huge change in the teacher education system when teacher education programmes in NEP-2000 are implemented properly.
In view of changes to be brought about in teacher education system, teachers need to put more effort enthusiastically, he said, adding that Manipur University has started implementing some portions of NEP-2000 from the last academic session.
Seminar coordinator Dr Chingtham Tomba said that there will be huge change in teacher education system when NEP-2000 starts implementation and several integrated courses will be added to teacher education system from the year 2030.He further said that the seminar was conducted in view of changes to be brought by NEP-2000 and preparations for the various integrated courses to be included in teacher education system.
He also said that submitting papers presented during the seminar to the government will help in bringing changes in teacher education programmes.
Several resource persons presented their papers during the national seminar conducted in four sessions.
