Imphal, June 02 2023:
Maintaining that the act of blocking the gate of Sug-nu police station and office of the nearby SDPO office with bullet proof armoured vehicles of 37 AR on Friday is concrete evidence that the AR person-nel are covertly supporting the armed Kuki militants bound by suspension of operation (So0) agreement, Coordinat-ing Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has said that the public's suspicion over partisan attitude of the AR has been corroborated.
Addressing media persons at its Uripok office here on Friday, COCOMI media co-ordinator Th Somendro said that the attacks by armed Kuki militants on valley people and burning down of houses continue unabated.
Since such acts of violence contradict the assurance giv-en by Union Home minister Amit Shah to contain the vi-olence, the unified command in-charge Kuldiep Singh, who is also the security advisor to the government of Manipur, should take up necessary ac-tions, he stressed.
The coordinator also opined that subsequent to continuous attack by Kuki armed mil-itants on the valley people, the faith and trust the people had on Amit Shah is getting diluted.
Therefore, to prevent further widening of the trust deficit between the masses and the Union Home minister as well as AR personnel, there is the need for the security advisor to take up concrete measures, he stressed and suggested that the judicial enquiry assured by the home minister to unearth circum-stances leading to the ethnic clash should be translated into action at the earliest.
He also pointed out the need to put into action the initia-tive of Manipur Governor for forming a peace committee with the inclusion of different stakeholders of the state.
