No distortion of Zeliangrong territories: AZSU

Reminding author-ities concerned that any solution entailing disinte-gration of the traditional Zeliangrong territories will not be accepted at any cost, All Zeliangrong Students' Union - Assam, Manipur & Nagaland (AZSU/AMN) cau-tioned that all initiatives for settling sensitive issues must have the prior information and consent of the Zelian-grong community.
In a release, AZSU in-formed that a consultative meeting attended by many senior Zeliangrong student leaders and activists was held in connection with present restive situation in Manipur and on Zeliangrong political issue on Thursday at Tarung.
While pointing out that the disruption caused to trans-portation of essential goods along the National Highways, erratic operation of markets and business establishments, shutdown of schools, col-leges, offices etc., due to the restive situation have been creating serious inconve-niences to the public, it also deplored protracted suspen-sion of internet service in-spite of the fact that as almost every activities, including the healthcare sector depend on internet.
Urging the government and authority concerned to restore the internet facility for public use in the interest of the rights of the citizen and freedom, the union also stressed the need for the gov-ernment to effectively utilise the law and order machin-ery to protect the vulnerable people from any harm and danger.
Zeliangrong community welcomes any peace initia-tive taken up by the govern-ment and will extend fullest cooperation to bring early solution and restore peace and tranquillity in the state, it added.
