Imphal, June 02 2023:
A joint meeting of clubs and meira paibi lups situated along Imphal-Saikul road from Lamlong upto Sagolmang has unanimously resolved to not endorse the combing operations to recover arms and ammunition as long as Kuki militant groups attack Meeteis, today.
The meeting was held at Pangei Keithel.
Speaking to media persons, one of the women said that the Kuki militants didn't stop attacking Meetei villages even when Union Home Minister Amit Shah was in Manipur and also after he left.
Asking if the Centre is scheming to wipe out Meeteis by taking away the guns which they are keeping for self-defence only, she said that the Government shouldn't pick up the guns until the Kuki militants stop their atrocities.
If the Kuki militants covered by Suspension of Operation (SoO) are at their designated camps then who are these people who have been attacking Meeteis using sophisticated weapons, she asked and urged the Government to take necessary actions.
The Meeteis won't surrender arms until the Government takes up actions and ensures the safety of civilians, she said and added that there won't be any need to carry out combing operations to recover the weapons if the Kuki militants stop their act.
