144 arms recovered, body count goes up to 98

Imphal, June 02 2023:
Heeding the strong call of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, 144 arms and 11 magazines have been surrendered from Imphal East, Imphal West, Tengnoupal and Thoubal, today.
While 102 arms were recovered from Imphal East, another 35 were taken up from Tengnoupal.
The remaining seven guns were picked up from Imphal West (1 carbine, one .303 Rifles and 3 magazines) and Thoubal (four SLRs, one AK and 8 magazines), said an official statement.
The recovered arms from Imphal East include SLR (28), Carbine (15), INSAS Rifle (12), INSAS LMG (2), .303 Rifle (7), 9mm pistol (1), .32 pistol (5), M16 Rifle (5), Country made rifle (1), smoke gun/tear gas (3), local made pistol (8), sten gun (1), modified rifle (3) and grenade launcher (10) .
Guns seized from Tengnoupal include SLR (4), Carbine (2), AK (3), INSAS Rifle (22), INSAS LMG (2), smoke gun/tear gas (1) and JVP (1) .
The number of deaths, on the other hand, has mounted to 98 while the figure of injured stands at 310 .
The police have taken up 3734 so far in connection with the violence in Manipur and arrested 65 persons.
As per the statement, 234 vehicles including 121 empty trucks, 57 oil tankers, 49 LPG bullets, 2 cruisers and other vehicles have left Imphal for Jiribam at around 7 am today while 210 loaded vehicles carrying petrol (8), LPG (41), Mix (8), cement (68) medicines and others have been stationed at Noney.
Another 230 vehicles carrying LPG (20), petrol (26), diesel (4), FCI (1), medicine (2), cement (64) and transport (96) have left Jiribam for Imphal today at around 6.30 am while over 30 vehicles including seven oil tankers are stranded at Senapati and Mao.
The statement further stated that 37450 people are currently taking shelter at 272 relief camps.
