Moreh, December 13 2021:
Hill Tribal Council (HTC), Moreh president Jangmang Haokip has declared his candidacy from Tengnoupal assembly constituency for the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election-2022 .
Jangmang declared his candidacy during a community leaders' meet held in connection with the upcoming election at HTC office on Monday.
During the meet, community leaders of Moreh said that suffering of people living in the border town continues unabated as none of the elected representatives in the past including the incumbent MLA understand their grievances.
Suffering of people living in the border town would only be known after having elected representative of the-constituency from Moreh and it was under this objective that Jangmang Haokip is being fielded as candidate for the upcoming election, some community leaders said at the meet.
Expressing strong displeasure over complete control of Indo-Myanmar border trade by Assam Rifles, community leaders said there is no leader in Moreh who could raise this issue to Assam Rifles and this problem could be solved when a leader from Moreh becomes MLA of the constituency.
Leaders of Meetei Council Moreh, All Community Development Organisation Moreh, Tamil Sangam Moreh, Gorkha Samaj Samiti Moreh and chiefs of unit 1 to 13 of Hill Tribal Council Moreh attended the meet.
