Imphal, June 19 2014:
There were altogether 137 cadres of United Revolutionary Front (URF), Lanheiba group at the Loitang Khunou designated camp in Imphal's northern outskirt when they moved in after signing the Suspension of Operation (SoO) with the government but today only 17 cadres found present.
After yesterday's fiasco at the designated camp, additional superintendent of police (ops), Imphal West Meghahandra went to the designated camp of URF at Loitang Khunou today to check the camp and found only 17 cadres.
It appeared that many have deserted the camp while some have been killed.
However, the precise factor for the large number of cadres not stationing in the camp is not confirmed officially.
Meanwhile, the two cadres of the URF who were caught by the locals yesterday morning for stealing the machine parts of the defunct Manipur Spinning Mill were produced before the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Imphal West district today and remanded to 3 days police custody.
It can be recalled here that following the incident of pulling up two URF cadres while they were stealing the machine parts, over a thousand people from adjoining villages of Loitang Khunou, Senjam Chirang, Senjam Khullen, Moibung Khunou, Khurkhul, Loitang Khullen and Phumlou congregated yesterday afternoon and started dismantling the wall of Manipur Spinning Mill.
Over 400 feet of the wall got dismantled when the security force personnel rushed in to disperse the mob at around 8 pm yesterday.
