New Delhi/Dimapur, June 19 2014:
The UPA government appointed New Delhi inter-locutor for Naga peace talks Ajit Lal is unlikely to be replaced by the Narendra Modi led NDA government.
Sources informed Newmai News Network today that since Ajit Lal who is also the chairman of Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC), has good knowledge about the Nagas so he is unlikely to be replaced.
This news report has cropped up amid speculations that Ajit Lal may also be replaced following the series of quitting of UPA government appointed Governors and also the number of UPA government instituted committees being done away by the NDA within a short period.
Ajit Lal has succeeded R.S Pandey who had joined the BJP fold to contest in the 16th Lok Sabha election from Bihar three months ago.
Meanwhile, till today there is no fresh development of the resumption of formal talks between the government of India and the NSCN-IM.
There have been hype building up that the formal talks will resume soon which is likely to see some crucial development regarding the Naga peace talks.
Both the NSCN-IM and the government sides did not disclose the precise date of the talks to be resumed.
The NSCN-IM has been saying 'very soon' .
However, series of 'informal meetings' are going on in New Delhi between the NSCN-IM leaders and the government of India representatives as part of the preparation to resume the long-halted formal talks.
Six top NSCN-IM leaders had left Dimapur last week for New Delhi to hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders.
VS Atem, AK Lungalang, TT Among, Victor Angami, Imcha Longkumer and Qhevi-he Chisi Swu are now in Del- hi joining Isak Swu and Th Muivah for the talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home minister Rajnath Singh and other Central leaders.
It is worth recalling here that NSCN-IM chairman Isak Chisi Swu and the outfit's general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah had left Dimapur for New Delhi on May 13 in connection with the peace talks.
