Imphal, June 19 2014:
Demanding an immediate halt to the process of absorbing JN Hospital employees as JNIMS staff and at the same time decrying the denial of rights and opportunities entitled to them, the Non-Gazetted Employees' Welfare Association, Porompat has threatened to launch an indefinite cease work strike from June 23 .
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, general secretary of the association Okram Kirankumar said that JN Hospital employees have been cooperating with all the efforts of making JNIMS a matured institute.
Taking advantage of such benevolence, JNIMS authority has been working to merge JN Hospital employees into JNIMS.
All the JN Hospital staff were working under Health Department.
However, when JN Hospital approached Health Department with an appeal to return to the parent department, they were told that were staff of JNIMS.
Kirankumar said that they are at JNIMS on deputation.
In accordance to an order issued by the Government on February 4, 2012, the Health Director signed on the service books of JN Hospital staff but these staff have been working at JNIMS till date.
Employees working under Health Department have been getting all the benefits given by the State Government, but no such benefits have been given to JN Hospital employees working at JNIMS on deputation.
On being enquired with the Health Director and the JNIMS Director, they were told that they were JNIMS staff and as such they were not entitled to benefits given by Health Department.
The employees working at JNIMS are not given deputation allowance and GPF is kept in abeyance.
There is neither pay fixation nor are they given State's arrear.
To protest against all these unjust acts the employees would wear black badges from June 20 for 72 hours.
If no positive response is forthcoming from the Government within the 72 hours period, an indefinite cease work strike would be launched from June 23, they added.
