ANSAM pays fitting tributes to students killed in the line of duty

The All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) observed Remembrance Day in memory of the students who were killed in the line of duty for Naga people at Martyrs'Park, Komlathabi, Chandel today.
The Remembrance Day was observed in memory of Shelley Chara, Ng Sanii, Ashur R Jangvei, Gemcliff Zimik, Nanthiurai Abonmai, Dikho Loshou and Neli Chako who were killed under different circumstances.
Amongst others, the function was attended by UNC president L Adani, ANSAM leaders and leaders of NPF and NPMHR.
Speaking on the occasion, ANSAM president Seth Shatsang said ANSAM's primary responsibility was welfare of Naga students but the responsibility of ANSAM has been swelling manifold and diversified with the changing time and circumstances.
Facing the challenges head-on, the seven students sacrificed their precious lives.
The seven students and their sacrifice would always inspire the Naga people to struggle relentlessly for their historical and political rights.
It is also an opportunity to introspect and identify honest leaders who can tackle the myriad issues at hand, Seth Shatsang said.
UNC president L Adani said that all the Naga people become activists at one point of time or another in the course of their political struggle.
This raises the quantum of casualty including fatal ones.
At the same time, their, sacrifices would always remain a constant source of inspiration.
Apart from observing two minutes' silence in honour of the martyrs, family members of the martyrs were also honoured by presenting gifts.
