Imphal, May 14 2020:
Hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's economic package of Rs 20 lakh crore as a very bold step, Lok Sabha MP Dr RK Ranjan has called upon the people of the State to take full advantage of the package.
Speaking to media persons at the Nityaipat Chuthek office of BJP Manipur Pradesh, Dr Ranjan said that the economic package announced by the Prime Minister yesterday should act as a stimulus to make the economy self sustainable.
The State too can strengthen the Make in Manipur campaign by promoting local products for the Central Government has been providing a number of incentives under cooperative federalism.
The economic package lays more emphasis on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) because MSME are essential for industrialisation, Dr Ranjan said.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman came out with another announcement today having nine points.
The nine points include extending certain benefits to middle class families.
One prominent point is the 'one Nation, one ration card' which means a ration card holder may avail essential commodities from any fair price shop or ration agent in any part of the country.
Moreover, the Central Government and the State Government have been working hard to digitise the entire public distribution system, Dr Ranjan said.
The process of issuing ration cards which would be applicable throughout the country would be completed by the month of August.
Another point announced by the Union Finance Minister is ensuring affordable house/room rents to migrant workers.
If an industrial unit has land, houses may be built for migrant workers.
However, for immediate relief, unoccupied buildings would be converted into rent houses for migrant workers.
There are around 50 lakh street vendors in the country and all their economic activities had been brought to a complete by the COVID-19 lockdown.
Nonetheless, they would be given loans as assured by the Union Finance Minister, Dr Ranjan said.
Compensatory Afforestation Fund given to Forest and Environment Department would be utilised in creating job avenues for tribals, hill dwellers and forest communities whose sources of income have been curtailed by the COVID-19 lockdown.
