Humanity matter now more than ever: Nemcha Kipgen

After a daylong inspection of various activities undertaken in Kangpokpi District mainly in connection with the current influx of stranded people in the district, Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen exhorted the people that working together is imperative to effectively fight against the pandemic.
Nemcha Kipgen arrived at Kangpokpi DHQs and initially distributed rice (10 kgs), dal (2 kgs) and potatoes to over 290 widows and widowers within Kangpokpi Assembly Constituency at LAMPS, Kangpokpi DHQs.
Later, the Minister visited the COVID-19 Emergency Food Kiosk initiated by ADC Sadar Hills with the assistance of Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization and Kangpokpi Youth Union under the supervision of Kangpokpi Town Committee.
She then inspected the activities taken up at centralized arrival point at Brig M Thomas Ground.
The Minister also inspected institutional quarantine centre at BITES Centre, Leikop with Chief Medical Officer and concerned SDO.
The Minister then went back to centralized arrival point to welcome those stranded returnees from Guwahati with the assistance of Thadou Students' Association.
Later, the Minister also provided raw materials to set up 20 toilets for more community quarantine centres to be set up at Kangpokpi DHQs.
While highly appreciating the collective efforts of the local bodies and all frontline workers, Nemcha Kipgen said that humanity matter now more than ever, especially during this lockdown.
"No matter how challenging the issues of COVID-19, our approach should always be simple - don't panic, love one another and follow the recommended guidelines," she added.
