Over 400 arrive from Chennai, Shillong

Over four hundred people from stranded at Chennai and Shillong along with several others from the State have arrived home at Churachandpur today.
The stranded folks who began arriving as early as midnight yesterday continued to stream in even at the time of filing this report, giving officials a hectic day.
Of the 1,140 passengers who arrived at Jiribam by train, 341 from Chennai- the largest amongst the district wise pool is from Churachandpur.
As the bus that transported them from the last rail head arrived here around midnight yesterday, local officials had a frenzied time scanning their temperature and moving them to their designated quarantine centres across the district.
The Chennai returnees are 92 from Singngat A/C, 18 from Henglep A/C, 73 from Saikot A/C, 148 from CCpur A/C and 5 each from Thanlon A/C and Tipaimukh A/C.They are now placed under institutional or community quarantine under the aegis of the respective MLAs and CSOs.
Meanwhile, another group of about 100 people have begun arriving from Shillong in the evening by bus.
The exact figure of the people who have come from there is still not clear as some of the buses are still to reach Imphal at the time of filing this report.
Nevertheless, sources said there are more than a hundred in total who are moving in 8 buses.
