KVK Chandel organises input distribution programme

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel on Thursday organized an input distribution programme under the National Initiative on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) at Lambung village in Chandel district.
Sng Phamhring Anal, president Anal Lelruwl Tangpi Chandel took part in the event as the chief guest, said a release issued by KVK Chandel.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Asem Ameeta Devi, Head, KVK Chandel stressed on the urgent need for implementation and adoption of climate resilient agricultural practices in the district.
Dr Kangjam Sonamani Singh, SMS (SWCE), KVK Chandel, urged the participants to adopt a farming approach that includes sustainable use of existing natural resources through crop and livestock production systems, development and application of improved production and risk management technologies to achieve long-term higher productivity and income.
He urged the farmers to adopt the climate resilient technologies to improve the farm profitability, better water and nutrient management for efficient resource utilization.
He also motivated the farmers to adopt appropriate mitigation technologies such as cultivation of tolerant breeds to overcome climate stress.
Dr Khumlo Levish Chongloi, SMS (Agronomy) deliberated on the different aspects of conservation agricultural practices to build organic carbon and congenial environment for plant growth and manure management.
Later, input seeds of rice (RC Maniphou-6, RC Maniphou-13), blackgram, maize, groundnut, soyabean and foxtail millet were distributed to the farmers.
